3RD GRADE
  • At the end of the year we will be going to Alpena to visit the Besser Museum, the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary, and going on a glass bottom shipwreck tour.
  • To prepare for this trip, each PALS student will be learning about fossils and become an expert on a ship that sank in Lake Huron. While we are at the museum at the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary, the student will become the docent for his/her ship. Some of the students will even get to see their ships' wreckage on the bottom of Lake Huron when we take the glass bottom boat tour!
4TH GRADE
  • Our main field trip is an overnight trip to Camp Daggett. While we are there, we learn about maple syrup and the process of making it. Depending on the weather, we will help tap trees, collect syrup, etc.
  • We will be spending an entire day on the low and high ropes course. This is a fantastic way to challenge and encourage the kids to do something that they may be afraid to try.
  • To prepare for this trip, the students will be learning all about trees.
5TH GRADE
  • In May we will be heading to Lansing to spend the night at Impression 5 Museum. While we are there, we will participate in three different science stations before having some free time to explore the museum. In the morning we will head to the Potter Park Zoo. After lunch we will having a guided tour of the local Historical Museum.
  • To prepare for our trip, every student will become an expert on a/an animal(s) that live at the Potter Park Zoo. The students will be making a video in class to teach everyone about the animal(s). Prior to going to Lansing, the students will watch one another's videos and take notes on what they have learned. It is a great way to have our own kids be the docents.
